Cheryl Hicks, 2011 Brown Prize winner and 2016 chair of our nominating committee, shared with us the very good news about support she has received for her second project: a Franklin Research Grant from the American Philosophical Society; a Program in African American History Mellon Scholars Post-Doctoral Fellowship from The Library Company of Philadelphia; and she was selected to participate in a NEH Summer Institute, “American Material Culture: 19th Century New York,” at the Bard Graduate Center.
